True sharpness is achieved through proper skill and training. I found this and I thought it made a great stand for this statement.

No he didn't. I'm not as good as him but with a brick my dull knife now cuts through paper so I figure any cement slab will work.

I'd keep a battle mistress dull before I put it on a cinder block:eek:.
I decided expiermenting though. That pocket knife sharpened on the brick soon met sandpaper on a mouse pad and cuts like great. With some higher grits I could invent a lightsaber:D. Do they make convex machetes?

Don't know if anyone makes a convexed machete, but you could certainly get it sharpened that way.

Nothing wrong with that, matter of fact thats what survival is all about. IMPROVISATION. Gonna get my hands on some horse butt leather to make my strops so I can keep my Busse's SCARY sharp.

Job huntin myself, the outfit I'm with now is going down quick! I had a SHBM of 1999 vintage and traded it for the NMSFNO and some cash a few months ago. I also worked a trade for the BAD just recently, both on the Blade forum Busse exchange. Now I need to move a few for some cash the way things are going around here. Below is a pic of the old BM, she was sweet but I fell in love with another!

Maybe for a chisel grind, and highly doable the way my wife drives. I'd be a little worried about the temper though:D
